Vidronisi

A unique islet, which although it looks uninhabited, it is full of life!

Vidronisi is a small uninhabited islet of lake Little Prespa. The basic reason why humans are not allowed to go there is the protection of the numerous birds that have built their nests on the islet. It is certain that any human presence would disturb the birds' rest and would endanger their chicks.

The tops of the trees, the reeds and the rocks are full of birds' nests that perch on the shores of the lake, enjoying safety in the idyllic waters of Vidronisi. Even the small church of the islet dedicated to Saint Georgios is deserted and remains unused so that the Dalmatian Pelican, cormorants and the rest of the rare bird species can grow up undisturbed.
